Taavy is a Research Scientist within Clinical and Scientific Affairs. She began her career as an assistant in the O&P department at the Cincinnati VA Hospital. After completing her residencies at a large hospital-based system and a small private company, Taavy worked as a prosthetist/orthotist.
She transitioned into teaching O&P prior to returning full time to earn her PhD in health services research with a focus in health economics and epidemiology. She has skills and experience with statistical programs such as R and SAS analyzing large data including administrative claims data, clinical outcomes data, and large national survey data (e.g. NHANES, NHIS). She has published numerous studies in peer-reviewed journals as well as presented numerous abstracts at national and international conferences.
Taavy is a member of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association’s Research Committee and active with the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. She has previously been selected as a winner of the Academy’s Thranhardt Lecture Series Award.
She holds a PhD in Health Services Research with a focus in health economics and epidemiology and an Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
