Stephen is an ABC-certified orthotist and BOC-certified prosthetist for Hanger Clinic in Radford, Virginia.
As a clinician with more than 28 years of experience in the field, Stephen specializes in pediatric orthotics and adult prosthetics and is skilled in the management of lower limb conditions. He specializes in the orthotic management of spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and scoliosis. He is skilled in using the latest technology in the fabrication of orthotic and prosthetic devices.
Stephen’s mother contracted polio in 1952 when she was four years old. When he was young, she wore a KAFO leg brace and did not let her condition slow her down. This experience inspired him to pursue a career in orthotics and prosthetics.
Stephen loves seeing children and their families light up when they are able to be more active and independent with an orthosis. He is inspired by how excited they are to have the ability to engage more with their friends and family as their treatment progresses. He also enjoys the challenge of working with pediatric patients, which he credits with helping to keep his skills sharp.
Outside of work, Stephen enjoys spending time with his daughters, grandson, and wife. He also enjoys outdoor activities, including floating in the river, paddle boarding, target shooting, and hiking.
