Abbey Sammons, a Lafayette native, is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist who has been with Hanger Clinic since May 2016. As a clinician, she loves enhancing quality of life for her patients in whatever way possible–whether that is making an extra design consideration on a device or figuring out how to simplify something for independent use at home. Abbey enjoys working with individuals of all ages, ranging from pediatric patients to geriatric patients.

Abbey is passionate about making her patients and their families feel comfortable and supported throughout the prosthetic/orthotic process and recognizes the difficulties that patients have experienced before they have arrived at the clinic. She highly values the crucial provider-patient connection and feels a deep sense of responsibility to see her patients thrive. In addition to a strong provider-patient connection, Abbey strives to connect patients with others who have similar life experiences and believes strongly in the importance of peer mentorship and peer support groups.

Abbey regularly pursues continuing education to keep up with the newest technology in the rapidly advancing field of O&P. In 2017, Abbey received the Hanger Clinic Residency Research Award.

Outside of work, Abbey enjoys exercising and spending time outdoors, cooking with friends, and traveling with her husband.
