Jonas is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist and clinic manager for Hanger Clinic in Washington, D.C., and Fairfax, Virginia.
As a clinic manager with more than 10 years of experience in the field, Jonas specializes in pediatrics and is skilled in lower extremity prosthetics and orthotics.
Jonas oversees a clinical and administrative team responsible for the comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic management of patients presenting with a large spectrum of pathologies. Before he became interested in O&P, Jonas worked as a mechanical engineer. He puts those engineering skills to use in the O&P field and enjoys that his work as a clinician includes more personal interaction and life-long relationships.
As a clinician, Jonas specializes in high-tech lower extremity prosthetics, including elevated vacuum systems, subischial socket design, and microprocessor feet and knees, and pediatric orthotic treatments, including optimization of gait and dynamic response orthoses. He looks for novel and creative approaches to treatment, utilizing new technologies when appropriate, and putting a strong emphasis on clinical research and evidence-based practice.
Jonas is also interested in furthering the education and professional standards of the field. He is a member of the NCOPE Board of Directors, leading the Resident/Student Activities Committee, and is the Regional Residency Director for the Mid-Atlantic area for Hanger Clinic.
