Al Ursales is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist and Clinic Manager for Hanger Clinic in the Ontario, California area.
As a clinician, Al works with patients of all ages and specializes in upper extremity prostheses and pediatric orthoses. He is skilled in working with partial finger, partial hand, transradial, transhumeral, and shoulder disarticulation upper limb amputations, along with 3D printed devices and myoelectric devices with co-apt systems. With extensive global experience in orthotic and prosthetic care, Al has served communities in Guatemala, Ethiopia, Ecuador, the Philippines, and Mexico. He has also collaborated with various non-profits to provide orthotic and prosthetic education and training across Asia and Africa. Mexico. Al enjoys teaching students and guest lecturing in universities as well as doing in-services for physical therapists and surgeons.
Growing up in the Philippines on a medically underserved island, Al witnessed the profound impact of limb loss on people’s self-worth and livelihoods. His father’s role as a general surgeon and experiences in the medical missionary field inspired his commitment to whole-person care, helping patients regain abilities and restore their confidence.
Outside of work, Al is involved in a homeless ministry where he works to provide resources, food, and clothing to people who have lost their job and homes. He also enjoys traveling around the world, photographing nature, and providing prosthetic care where needed.
