Anthony Berland, CPO

Upper Limb Specialist

Tony is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist for Hanger Clinic in the Southwestern United States.

With over 15 years of experience, Tony has been specializing in upper limb prostheses since 2016. He has a comprehensive knowledge of all upper extremity components, enabling him to evaluate and fit challenging upper extremity cases, including bilateral upper limb loss, targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), osseointegration, and pattern recognition fittings across the Southwestern United States. His expertise spans pediatric care, bilateral limb loss, complex partial hand care, myoelectric technologies, and 3D printing designs. Tony builds strong, family-like connections with his patients, finding joy in restoring their function and helping them achieve their goals.

In addition to his clinical work, Tony actively trains and mentors residents and local clinicians in upper limb prosthetics. He has consulted and lectured nationally, as well as provided training and performed fittings internationally. Tony has contributed several published papers to the MEC proceedings and is currently engaged in National Institutes of Health (NIH) research and clinical trials with Arizona State University.

Outside of work, Tony and his wife Kelly enjoy spending time with their five children, coaching his children’s sports teams, attending sporting events, and connecting with extended family. Any remaining time is happily spent with Kelly, working on classic cars—bringing them back to life, installing powerful engines, and showcasing them at car shows. Together, they also enjoy hosting barbecues with family and friends.
