Dan Hallisy is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist for Hanger Clinic in Chicago, Illinois.
As a clinician with more than 10 years of experience in the field, Dan provides care to pediatric and adult patients with a wide variety of different diagnoses and presentations. He specializes in cranial remolding orthoses (helmets) and lower extremity prostheses and orthoses for patients with diagnoses such as CVA (stroke), Charcot-Marie-Tooth, Charcot joint, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. Working in tandem with the rehabilitation physical therapy staff, he also manages the continuation of orthotic care for complex pediatric conditions into adulthood for recent high school graduates continuing their education at the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education, Roosevelt orthotic clinic.
Dan’s interest in the field began when his younger sister became an amputee at a young age, and continued after completing his Biomedical Engineering education. Orthotics and prosthetics provide a way to incorporate STEM principles to direct patient care and the improvement of mobility and quality of life in his patients.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys studying history, sports (primarily the SF Giants, 49ers, and Notre Dame), and being outdoors exploring new areas of Chicago with his wife, Krista. They share two cats, Rue and Olivia.
