Emily is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist for Hanger Clinic in Williamsport and Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania.
As a clinic manager with more than 8 years of experience in the field, Emily specializes in pediatrics with a focus on the management of plagiocephaly, craniosynostosis, and adolescent scoliosis. She is skilled in cranial remolding, pediatric ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), lower extremity prosthetics, the Charleston Bending Brace®, and the Providence Nocturnal Scoliosis® system, and leverages the latest technology including Structure® 3D scanning and TechMed 3D® scanning.
Emily has been passionate about orthotic and prosthetic care since childhood, when she would watch her grandfather walk up 51 steps to his apartment using bilateral below-the-knee prosthetic devices. The high-quality care he received, following both legs being amputated below the knee, allowed him to be strong, independent, and mobile. That memory motivates her every day to provide her patients with the best possible interventions that will help them reach their goals.
Emily emphasizes education with her pediatric patients’ families, to demystify the conditions and treatments involved. She finds that having a deeper understanding makes it less stressful for the parents, and makes it easier to work together to create an effective treatment plan for their child.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys running and biking in the warmer months, and has learned to embrace the cold Pennsylvania winters by taking up cross-country skiing. Year round, Emily watches weather broadcasts for fun, tracking severe weather across the country.
