Emily Schmitt is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist for Hanger Clinic in Portland, Oregon.
As a clinician, Emily is passionate about working with patients with upper extremity prosthetic and orthotic needs, including MyoPro myoelectric arm orthoses. She enjoys the variety of patient presentations and devices she works with and loves the blend of physical sciences and creative problem solving in the orthotic and prosthetic field.
Raised by a mom with hand impairments, Emily was given a glimpse into the emotional and physical burdens a disability can create, as well as the strength and resilience it can build in a person. It brings her great joy to create devices that help people accomplish daily tasks, reach mobility goals, or have less pain.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys playing soccer, trying a local ice cream shop, or laying in a hammock with a good book.
