John Joseph ‘JJ’ Quizon is a clinical resident for Hanger Clinic in Providence, Utah.
As a clinical resident, JJ has prior experience as an O&P technician, fitter and assistant, and is looking forward to learning through his new career path. When he was introduced to O&P, he thought it was the perfect combination of math and visual arts, where he can work in healthcare as well as work with his hands. JJ is originally from the Philippines, and has always wanted to go back and help with their developing O&P technology. He is passionate about directly working with patients, and strives to help improve other people’s lives and make the world better for others.
Some of JJ’s past professional experience includes being a member of California Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (COPA) from 2023-2024 where he was part of the Education Committee, in charge of organizing the annual O&P symposium, and wrote two articles for their quarterly newsletter. He also worked with ‘2ft Prosthetics’ based in Utah and Mabuhay Deseret Foundation based in the Philippines, and participated in a week long Prosthetics outreach where he provided lower limb prostheses to three dozen patients in need.
Outside of work, JJ enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, going for walks, bike rides, running, and participating in obstacle races. He also loves taking care of plants, and would like to get back to rock climbing and photography.
