Gabriel Gonzales is a community care coordinator for Hanger Clinic in Illinois.
As a care coordinator and a certified orthotic fitter with 10 years of experience in the O&P field, Gabriel connects with patients prior to and immediately following their amputation to provide them with Hanger resources. He can supply patients with guidance and education regarding what to expect on their new journey, as well as fit patients with both shrinkers and Ampushields. Gabriel facilitates weekly care for new amputees whether they are at the hospital, at a rehab or skilled nursing facility, and even at their home. He can also accompany patients to their follow-up appointments to engage a collaborative effort with the patient’s care team while they heal, and ensure the patient is well equipped once they are ready to initiate prosthetic care.
Gabriel serves as a liaison between patients and their established medical team, but also works directly with specialists in the area, such as PM&R, PT, OT, and patient mentors through the Hanger AMPOWER Peer Support Program. He serves as a single point of contact to help patients navigate the process of returning to independence after their amputations.
