Matt is an ABC-certified orthotist for Hanger Clinic in Wilmington, North Carolina. He has more than 20 years of experience, and focuses his practice on the treatment of idiopathic and neuromuscular scoliosis, the orthotic management of cerebral palsy, cranial remolding orthoses, and the use of WalkAide Functional Electrical Stimulation for pediatric foot drop and tone management. Matt often works with UNC and Duke on scoliosis management.
Matt first became interested in O&P after watching “The Six Milion Dollar Man,” and being drawn to bionics. He loves making things with his hands, and the ability to change a person’s life and empower them to reach their goals. He has always loved working with kids, and chose to complete his residency at Shriner because of that. His wife is a local pediatric PT and together they have focused on the care of the pediatric patients in their community.
Outside of the clinic, Matt likes to spend time with his wife, Renee, and their two boys, usually on the water or soccer fields. He also likes to race motocross and endure GNCC races.
