Jeff is an ABC-certified orthotist and orthotics specialty team leader for Hanger Clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina.
As a clinician with more than 37 years of experience in the field, Jeff is a leader in cutting-edge orthotic solutions. He specializes in pediatric advanced lower extremity orthotics including functional electrical stimulation (FES) such as the WalkAide® System, orthotic interventions for spinal cord injuries such as highly advanced knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs), and full-body reciprocating gait orthosis (RGO) systems for patients of all ages. Additionally, Jeff has been a key partner in developing and teaching on the Carolinas Variable Cadence ankle-foot orthotic (AFO) for orthopedic limb-salvage diagnoses, and he developed the Ottobock® Carbon Ankle Seven AFO technology to a high point of refinement for pediatric use.
Jeff’s passion for orthotics started when he was a teenager, following a back injury while high-jumping during P.E. class. He spent months as a patient at the local hospital-based orthotics office, and was fit with a custom Thoracic Lumbar Sacral Orthosis (TLSO). The positive impact that device had on his rehabilitation made a lasting impression, and inspired him to pursue a career in orthotics.
Dedicated to providing his patients of all ages with the highest level of care, Jeff has a special place in his heart for his pediatric patients, understanding how impactful orthotic care is to these young lives and their families. He loves helping them feel comfortable, watching how kids evolve from anxious during their first office visit to happy and engaged in following visits. Jeff looks forward to celebrating every milestone with children and their families, as the little ones respond well to wearing their orthoses and make progress in their accompanying physical therapy.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoys recreational activities such as hiking, camping, boating, water sports, and spending time with his Boston Terrier.
