Matt is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist and Area Clinic Manager for Hanger Clinic in the University of Kansas Health System and the Kansas City metropolitan area.
With over 25 years of experience as a prosthetist working with patients of all levels of limb loss, Matt specializes in high-level fittings of patients with limb loss from both trauma and cancer, including a significant number of individuals with upper limb loss and complex multiple limb amputations. On a daily basis, he works closely with a team of physicians and therapists to maximize patient outcomes and help them return to the activities they enjoy in life. Matt is passionate about providing a well-fitting and designed prosthesis to best support the activities a patient wants to participate in. Matt was among a team that developed the Hanger Comfort-Flex Adapt Silicone Socket, and his work within Hanger Clinic has been recognized for piloting patient-focused protocols, including the outcome collection for upper and lower limb amputees.
Matt also serves as an NCOPE residency director, training dozens of aspiring clinicians who now provide care throughout the country. He is a frequent lecturer to physicians, therapists, and case managers. In addition, Matthew co-authored the chapter on Pediatric Limb Deficiencies in Pediatric Rehabilitation, Fifth Edition: Principles and Practice.
Outside of work, Matt loves to spend time with his family and travel, with the goal of traveling to all the continents. Some of his favorite trips have been to Egypt to see the Great Pyramids, Iceland to see the Diamond Beach, South America for Iguazo Falls, and Antarctica to sleep under the stars.
