Alex serves as Community Care Coordinator for Hanger Clinic in New Hampshire, and is also a Certified Peer Visitor for AMPOWER, a peer-to-peer network designed to empower and strengthen those affected by amputation or limb difference through peer mentorship, educational resources, and community events.
Born with a lower extremity limb difference, Alex was introduced to the field of prosthetics as a patient. He became interested in working in the field of O&P upon seeing the positive impact that a collaborative approach to healthcare can have. Alex emphasizes enhancing access to care for patients and services available for providers in order to improve continuity and quality of care.
As a Community Care Coordinator, Alex meets with new prosthetic patients before surgery and supports patients from amputation to ambulation. He is equipped with a thorough understanding of prosthetics and orthotics, serving as a single point of contact for all new amputees as they transition through the continuum of care. He ensures patients and family members are provided with educational materials, appropriate community resources, and emotional support like amputee support groups and AMPOWER peer visitation.
