Mikaela is an ABC-certified orthotist and prosthetist for Hanger Clinic in North Carolina.
As a clinician, Mikaela specializes in scoliosis patients ranging in ages 5+ (idiopathic, neuromuscular, pectus), cranial patients (plagiocephaly and craniosynostosis), adult orthotic and prosthetic patients, and pediatric patients. She works with the local PT/OT and pediatric orthopedic surgeons to treat patients with varying diagnoses (CP, spina bifida, gait abnormalities etc.). She is also a proponent for 3D scanning, modeling, and printing in the clinic, a member of the community outreach program, and the area Community Outreach Ambassador.
Mikaela is passionate about orthotic and prosthetic technology because she gets to be hands-on and uses creative problem solving to develop specific treatment plans to help each patient. She enjoys coming up with new ideas and new ways to make a device work for a patient, and especially loves seeing the smiles on the faces of pediatric patients.
Outside of work, Mikaela enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, arts and crafts, and spending time outdoors.
