Tom is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist at Hanger Clinic in the Milwaukee area. As a clinic manager with over 25 years of experience, he provides all types care, but primarily sees pediatric orthotic patients and all ages and types of prosthetic patients. Tom is highly skilled at lower extremity orthotics for neuromuscular involved patients of all ages. He specializes in conditions including cerebral palsy, stroke, spina bifida, Down syndrome, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and autism. He is a member of Hanger Clinic’s national lower limb orthotics specialists team. His focus with this group of patients is to restore normal gait as much as possible by following the principles of establishing proper lower limb alignment in both standing and walking.

Tom is a member of our CARE Network for Cranial Remolding Orthoses. While he sees all types of asymmetries, he primarily works with children who have cranial synostosis. When it comes to cranial remolding, Tom particularly enjoys connecting with parents and watching the babies develop over the course of treatment. He has personally trained many of the Hanger Clinic cranial remolding providers in the Milwaukee area, and enjoys using a team approach to treating cranial remolding patients.

Tom is a member of Hanger Clinic’s national lower limb prosthetic pediatric specialists team. As a member of this team, he not only sees the vast majority of pediatric prosthetic patients in the greater Milwaukee area, but also travels to other clinics both in the area and sometimes outside the area to assist other clinicians with their patient care and share his knowledge. Additionally, Tom is a member of Hanger Clinic’s Upper Limb Prosthetic team. He is the Milwaukee area’s primary upper limb prosthetics clinician. As part of this team, Tom receives ongoing advanced training and access to the latest technology. He works closely with the upper limb specialist out of St. Louis and others from around the country to insure the best possible care for his patients. 

Tom considers the field of orthotics and prosthetics a perfect blend of science and art; he gets to be creative while using sound scientific principles. Every device is as unique as the patient for which it is designed, and he enjoys the opportunity to create a device and see it improve a patient’s life.

Outside of clinical practice, Tom is often a guest lecturer and has assisted Marquette University with many orthotic and prosthetic research projects. In recent years, Tom has traveled to China with a group of medical professionals to share his knowledge and skill. Outside of work, Tom is active in his community, spends time watching his two sons play their high school and college sports, travels with his wife, and landscapes around his home.
