The new year is always an exciting time for Hanger care teams, staff, suppliers, and partners. It’s a time when we come together as one for our annual education conference, Hanger LIVE, to pause and reflect on the past year, get inspired for the year ahead, and take time to learn from the best and the brightest in the orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) field and beyond.

With the theme “Powered by Purpose” and reimagined for a digital audience, this year’s event, which took place virtually from February 4-5, reinforced Hanger’s strong sense of purpose of ‘Empowering Human Potential Together.’ It encouraged each of the 5,000+ attendees to pause and reflect on their sense of purpose and what drives them to do better and be better each and every day. It was a refreshing message that was carried through each portion of the event and is sure to continue to guide everything we do as we look to the year ahead and beyond.

Keynote Speaker Indra Nooyi Shares Insights on Leading With Purpose

A true highlight of this year’s event were two keynote sessions featuring Indra Nooyi, former PepsiCo Chairman and CEO, one of the world’s most powerful women and successful CEOs.

In conversation with Hanger President and CEO Vinit Asar, Nooyi shared her personal journey, from founding a college women’s cricket team in India to leading PepsiCo, and insights about leading with purpose, and why diversity and inclusion are critical to the success of any business.

Throughout her career, Nooyi has broken boundaries and been a champion for women in the workplace. She spoke to Asar about bias and the need for diversity and inclusion programs, an area where Hanger has been concentrating efforts for several years.

“At Hanger, we’ve had structures in place to promote women in leadership for many years now, and in 2020, we committed to a Diversity & Inclusion Pledge with five focus areas designed to help create a more inclusive profession,” said Asar. “As Indra noted so clearly, diversity and inclusion is not only the right thing for all businesses to pursue, it creates the most collaborative, innovative environment for our patients and employees.”
